According to 2018 Wine Report by Mediobanca, “supermarkets” are the major sale channel in the Italian market, accounting 39% of the total sales, followed by “on-trade” (hotels and restaurants) 17% and “wine bar” with 8%; the rest 35% is sold in other channels, such as direct sales, online, dealers, etc.

300 candles placed in 1 hectare vineyard supposed to increase 3°C the temperature.
To help fruit trees was used the so-called anti-frost irrigation, a layer of ice prevents the flowers from further damages.

Among the most important vegetables for which Italy is the leading European producer, there are grapes, apples, pears, kiwi, tomatoes, wheat, but not olives.
For the first time since I am in Asia (June 2002) France is no longer the leading wine exporting superpower.
First 2 months of 2019 saw Australia overtakes France as China’s biggest wine exporter, according to CAWS (Chinese Association of Wine & Spirit Importers).

The young women of the wine industry is booming with a record in the last year of the presence of under-35s growing by 51% (“Overall, women lead more than 1 in 4 agricultural enterprises […] with 25% of the companies guided by girls under 35” says Coldiretti).
Female innovations are multiplying, from the “manga” sparkling wine (born from a collaboration between Patrizia Torti in Oltrepò Pavese and the inventor of Hello Kitty), to “green” wine (i.e. Erika Pedrini of Pravis wines produced from vines resistant to diseases) to zero-alcohol sparkling wine for Qatar sheiks.
Italian vineyards cost more than a Caribbean island with prices rising from 1 million euros per hectare for Brunello and Barolo (Barolo premium “cru” prices reaching up to 2.5 million euros per hectare).
Figures higher than that these required to buy an island in the Bahamas, which can be bought for just over 2 million euros, as in the case of Lobster Island and just below the price of a resort-island in the Maldives (Soneva Jani), which also goes around 2.6 million euros.

Singapore, October 10, 2018 – Paladin family started writing their wine story as far back as 1962. Vineyards and cellars are located between Veneto and Friuli, where the two regional cultures melted together.
Vito Donatiello participated in this Trade Tasting and introduced Prosecco Millesimato (”vintage”) DOC and Ripasso Superiore DOC.
