- Wine accounts for only 11% of total alcohol consumption (in the USA, the largest market)
A billion bubbles: Italy’s sparkling milestone achieved
- Italian sparkling wines are on track to surpass one billion bottles produced and sold in 2024 (more than three times Champagne’s total 2023 production of 300 million bottles).
- The “Spritz trend” is driving global demand, resulting in 2.8 billion cocktails made with Italian sparkling wine.
- DOCG and DOC sparkling wines represent 80% of Italy’s sparkling wine market (while the other 20% comes from IGP and table wine categories).
