The young women of the wine industry is booming with a record in the last year of the presence of under-35s growing by 51% (“Overall, women lead more than 1 in 4 agricultural enterprises […] with 25% of the companies guided by girls under 35” says Coldiretti).
Female innovations are multiplying, from the “manga” sparkling wine (born from a collaboration between Patrizia Torti in Oltrepò Pavese and the inventor of Hello Kitty), to “green” wine (i.e. Erika Pedrini of Pravis wines produced from vines resistant to diseases) to zero-alcohol sparkling wine for Qatar sheiks.
A vineyard costs more than an island in the Caribbean Sea
Italian vineyards cost more than a Caribbean island with prices rising from 1 million euros per hectare for Brunello and Barolo (Barolo premium “cru” prices reaching up to 2.5 million euros per hectare).
Figures higher than that these required to buy an island in the Bahamas, which can be bought for just over 2 million euros, as in the case of Lobster Island and just below the price of a resort-island in the Maldives (Soneva Jani), which also goes around 2.6 million euros.
