In 2019 China imported bottled still wine amounted to 2.29 billion US$ (approximately 2.15 billion €) for over 474 million of litres (approximately 630 million bottles of 75cl), a decrease of -14.26% year-on-year.
For the first time, France (-35% in value respect to 2018) is no longer the leading wine exporting superpower, 2019 saw Australia (+13% in value) overtakes France as China’s biggest wine exporter.
After Australia, France and Chile, there is Italy.
In 2019 Italy exported around 49 million bottles of still wine for a value of 155.7 million US$ (approximately 146 million €, average 4.25 US$/litre or 3 €/litre), remarking a decrease -7.6% in value year-on-year (an increase of around 1 million bottles and a decrease of around 12 million €), resulting on the 4th market share of 6.8%.
- Australia: market share 35.7% (818 million US$)
- France: market share 29.9% (684 million US$)
- Chile: market share 11.8% (269 million US$)
- Italy: market share 6.8% (156 million US$)
- Spain: market share 6.1% (139 million US$)
