In 2021 Italy exported to Singapore € 17,916,421 of bottled wine according to ISTAT (National Statistical Institute) data.
This figure means an increase of +26% versus 2019 (€ 14,233,552), note that the comparison is not towards 2020, which has little statistical value, but 2019, the pre-pandemic year.
Going into details:
- € 13,574,164 of still bottled wines
- € 3,189,089 of sparkling wines
- € 445,680 of fizzy bottled wines
- € 707,488 of fortified wines
Interesting to be noted:
- Sparkling wine share is 18% of the total imported bottled wine
- All DOPs sparkling wines (including Prosecco, Asti, Trento, Franciacorta, etc.) account for 81% of the total sparkling category
- Red wine share is 81% of the total still wine
- DOPs and IGPs wines account for 88% of the total still wines
- Tuscany white DOPs + Veneto white DOPS (e.g., Vernaccia, Soave, etc.) represent over 37% of the total still white wine
- Tuscany red DOPs (e.g., Brunello, Chianti, etc.) share is 22% of the total still red wines
Breakdown of Singapore imported Italian wines:
The research includes:
- HS 220410: sparkling wine from fresh grapes
- HS 220421: still wine from fresh grapes in containers smaller than 2 litres – most probably standard 750 ml bottles (fizzy, still white and red, fortified wines)
It does NOT account for:
- HS 220422 + HS 220429: bulk wine from fresh grapes in containers larger than 2 litres – most probably bag-in-box and tanks
- HS 220430: must of grapes partially fermented
