Florence, March 25th 2022 – Gabriele Gorelli, first and only Italian Master of Wine held a masterclass on “The courage to change – Organic, sustainable and other way to make wine”.
On this journey through new approaches and innovative styles he introduced the following wines:
- Cobalto Maremma Toscana Vermentino DOC 2018, Val delle Rose: 100% Vermentino, 10 months maceration with skin contact, very particular, only 5.000 bottles produced per year
- Tiniatus Montecucco Rosso DOC 2018, Le Pianore: another exclusive gem, only 7.000 bottles produced
- Aetos Orcia DOC 2019, Tenuta Sanoner: biodynamic, very elegant, rich and long-lasting persistence (+++)
- Le Anfore Sangiovese Toscana IGT 2019, Elena Casadei: fermentation in amphora for 30 days, then matures again in amphora for about 5 months; Rufina is the wettest subzone in Tuscany, very long persistence (++)
- Mimesi Terre di Pisa Sangiovese DOC 2018, Tenuta di Ghizzano: complex and spicy without overwhelming wood contribution, nice and long (++)
- Petruna Sangiovese in anfora, Valdarno di Sopra DOC 2019, Il Borro: very muscular and angular, oaky
- Colori Toscana IGT 2016, Camporignano: Terre di Casole DOC is the smallest DOC in Tuscany, only 14 associates, total of 34.000 bottles annual production
- Casa e Chiesa Colline Lucchesi Merlot DOC 2020, Tenuta Lenzini: 100% Merlot, in Tuscany we expect power and muscle, instead this is a very elegant version, juicy, finesse (+++)
- Poggio Pinzo Ciliegiolo Maremma Toscana DOC 2019, Sasso Tondo: Ciliegiolo variety is debated to be a relative to Sangiovese, could be rustic, this version is made in “cocciopesto” vessels (something between cement and terracotta)
- Syrah Cortona DOC 2018, Stefano Amerighi: it proves that Cortona is certainly the best place in Tuscany and perhaps also in Italy for Syrah variety
