Every year Gentleman magazine extrapolates the ranking of the Top 100 red wines and Top 50 white wines by crossing the scores of 6 of the most important Italian wine guides:
- Vini d’Italia by Gambero Rosso
- I Vini di Veronelli
- Bibenda by Fondazione Italiana Sommelier
- Vitae by Associazione Italiana Sommelier
- Annuario dei Migliori Vini Italiani by Luca Maroni
- Guida Essenziale ai Vini d’Italia by Daniele Cernilli
The ranking comes from a curated database, which has been collecting ratings for over 15 years thanks to the expertise and expertise of Cesare Pillon and Emanuele Elli.
But, in my opinion, there are some limitations:
- a wine to enter the ranking must be reviewed by each one of the 6 wine guides
- the list of the 6 guides includes the most important ones, but at the same time excludes some equally prestigious ones, such as Slow Food and Vini Buoni d’Italia.
