The “miracle” of Prosecco is bigger than expected.
In 2011 Gianluca Bisol – one of the biggest Prosecco producers – made the prophecy: “1 billion bottles by 2030 and Prosecco overtaking Champagne by 2020”, which needs to be updated.
2013 marked the historical overtaking of Champagne by Prosecco: 303 vs 307 million bottles (as per value Champagne is still about 3 times bigger than Prosecco).
