Montepulciano, February 26th 2022 – The new Enoliteca, run by the Consortium of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, looks out onto the cloisters of the ancient fortress of Montepulciano. it is the best place to discover and taste some of the over 100 bottles of Vino Nobile paired with local food.
I had a quick lunch there and tasted 2 Vino Nobile:
- Pagliareto 2018 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG by Luna d’Oro
(100% Sangiovese, 14.5% alcohol, aged 24 months in tonneaux)
limpid ruby red, clean and intense nose, red fruit, lots of freshness, good balance but short persistence
- TerraRossa 2013 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG by Palazzo Vecchio
(100% Sangiovese, 14% alcohol, aged 48 months in oak casks)
limpid garnet red, clean nose, red fruit, toasted flavours, slightly oxidized, I had great expectation being a 2013 vintage but I am afraid it has passed its peak time
