Col di Lamo, Montalcino, October 24 th 2021
We have visited Col di Lamo, a winery within the Montalcino appellation.
Owner and winemaker, Giovanna Neri, after receiving part of the family property from her father, decided to start on her own from scratch. She has a strong and sunny character; we all can feel she loves the work she does very much.
Col Di Lamo is located in the Torrenieri area, north-east of Montalcino. From 7.5 ha Giovanna makes about 25.000 bottles, all organic.
We tasted:
- Rosso di Montalcino DOC: lively ruby red colour, fruity and fragrant nose, dry in the mouth with a warm and savoury finish
- Brunello di Montalcino 2015 DOCG: it shows elegance and intensity despite needing little time to open up, slightly young, lots of freshness makes a convincing sip
- Lamo IGT: is the most international of the wines in production, soft and warm, with intense and persistent spicy notes
